2017 A.D.: Leonardo Da Vinci's Painting 'Salvator Mundi' (Latin for 'Savior of the World') Shatters Previous Record Price For A Painting!
A picture of the painting named 'Salvator Mundi' by Leonardo Da Vinci, which was painted between 1490 A.D. and 1500 A.D., about the time of Christopher Columbus' voyages.
In the interest of showing through yet another avenue that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God, consider that it was said of Jesus that He would have the supremacy in all things, as it says in Colossians chapter 1, v. 12 - 18:
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
End Quote, Colossians chap 1, v. 12 - 18
In keeping with this idea, and in possible fulfillment of the prophecy in yet another venue (oil paintings in this case) it is noteworthy that the highest price ever paid for a painting as of the time I am writing this, January 10th, 2021, was paid in 2017 at a Christie's auction in New York City, USA for the painting called Salvator Mundi by the famed Italian Renaissance painter and inventor and sculptor named Leonardo Da Vinci. The price paid was $450,000,000.00. Whether or not that title of 'highest price ever paid' shall hold true going into the remaining future I don't know, so I am just offering it for your consideration as a point of interest. But yes, the most expensive painting of all time had for its subject: Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Yahweh, the Messiah, the Savior, the Bread of Life, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Word of Life, and the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords to list but a few of His titles.
It is also a fact, to the best of my knowledge, that the highest price ever paid for a book, time adjusted, was paid for the Septuagint translation of the Old Testament (and Jesus is 'the Word' whether you speak of New Testament or of Old Testament. Jesus was before all things and all things were created through Him and are held together by His powerful word the scriptures tell us.) The outlay to obtain the Septuagint translation from the initially reluctant Jews of Jerusalem was paid by the Greek ruler Ptolemy Philadelphus (283 - 246 B.C.) of Alexandria, Egypt (who initially formed and founded the Library of Alexandria) and the price for producing the Septuagint added up to around $410,000,000.00 in today's U.S. dollars when all costs are taken into account. But if you look it up, you will probably see the purchase of the Codex Leicester, another work of Leonardo Da Vinci, in 1994 A.D. by Bill Gates for about $30,000,000.00 listed as the most expensive 'book' purchase. And it truly was the highest price paid for a book in our modern times.
There is an account for 1994 A.D. on the Deeds of God website which explains the rationale for saying that the Septuagint translation of the Old Testament scriptures 2,200 + years ago actually cost far more than even the Codex Leicester. So, again, even in this, Jesus (the Word) would seem to have the 'supremacy', though I have no idea if Jesus cares about these two particular categories of items - books and paintings. Yet the scriptural claim is borne out anyway...He has the supremacy even here in these two categories, possibly without even caring, at the present time.
