2012 A.D.: The Acceptable Year of the Lord?
A year has 52 weeks. Perhaps not perfectly and precisely, but that is what we say... a year has 52 weeks. And one day, in the future near or far, the Lord Jesus will return, gather those that are His, and take them out of harms way, and then He will return and personally wage war on His enemies. His robes will be made red, as if dipped in wine. Many will be those who are killed by the Lord, the scriptures tell us.
Our body - I believe - is built like a chronometer of sorts. The feet have characteristics which reflect the end times. Joints are connections. There are 66 joints in the two feet combined. I have been realizing more and more that the number 66 appears often where the people of God are rescued from impending doom. That is supposed to happen in the end times, according to Revelation and other prophetic books of the Bible.
Also, there are 52 bones in our feet, combined. That is the number often associated with a year, with the end of a cycle, with the fullness of weeks. When the number 52 shows up, in scripture, it can mean that waiting time is over!! Like when Jesus returns to take His own followers out of harm's way so that He can then return in person to battle and crush His enemies on Earth. The much talked about 'return of the Lord, the Day of the Lord in the Acceptable Year of Our Lord!!
Consider, for instance, the 52est Bible passage of them all (I suppose) which is the Bible's 52nd Book (1st Thessalonians) in it's 5th Chapter, 2nd verse:
5 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
So, 52 is a number connected with the completion, sometimes completion of a cycle of time; it is associated with fullness, such as the fullness of time. We get 52 teeth in our lifetime, at the top of our body. Our feet have 52 bones, at the bottom of our body. A year has 52 weeks in it. And there is something called the Acceptable Year of the Lord, when the Lord will return. And if you look into Book 52, Chapter 5, verse 2, what is spoken of? This same return of this same mighty Lord: Jesus of Nazareth!!
Here's Micah 5:2 to consider: "But you, Bethlehem Ephratha, though You are little among the thousands of Judah, out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting." End Quote
So, Micah 5:2 speaks of a 'year of the Lord'....it speaks prophetically of the birth of Jesus, which took place in Bethlehem. Micah was written long before the Earthly birth of Jesus.
In Luke Chapter 3 is a genealogy which shows that if you start at Judah (from whom the mysterious 'leader', the Messiah, was prophesied to come, and it turned out to be Jesus of Nazareth Who was prophesied about) and you proceed 52 generations into the future you are at the name Jesus, assumed by people at that time to be the natural son of Joseph, Mary's husband, though in truth God Himself directly caused Mary to become pregnant. Again, a year has 52 weeks. Jesus' coming, from the line of Judah as for human descent, marked 'the acceptable YEAR of the Lord' which was spoken of in Isaiah 61.
Here is another major book - Revelation! - speaking about Jesus in another certain 'year of the Lord'. This is a period of time - the end times - when Jesus will return to Earth to gather those who He considers His sheep, and take them up to Heaven out of harms way. Then He will return, and wreck havoc upon the wicked. Here, in Revelation 5:2 (another '52' of the Bible) is a scene, witnessed by John in His visit to Heaven:
5 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits[a] of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign[b] on the earth.”
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
We must try to be ready! The Bible tells us that all human souls will go to heaven or to the 'Lake of Fire'. Right now, while you are alive, you can confess your sins, ask Jesus to be Lord of your life, become baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and then learn Jesus' teachings as well as you can so you can learn to follow in obedience to this great Lord, and eventually teach your fellow men to do the same. But...die without having chosen Christ, and it is then too late to go back and re-do it. It is truly undeserved heaven, or richly deserved damnation, and every living person can still choose heaven. Don't be lazy, don't put it off, don't pretend to a faint affiliation with Christ, but on your own terms. Choose Jesus and obey the terms of the covenant that He has offered us while you still can!
