The 'Golden Ratio' Number (1.618) Is Precisely Relatable To the First Salvation Found In the Bible? Yes, In One Manner It Is !
Gold was given as a gift by the Magi, wise holy men from the East who traveled, following a strange and auspicious star in the sky, until they reached Israel and found baby Jesus whom the star presaged as a very great KING. They gave GOLD, frankincense and myrrh. The GOLD is held to denote kingship. The great New COVENANT of salvation is through our Savior and King, Jesus. But the first Biblical Covenant is considered to be the covenant God made with Noah. And that first covenant has aspects that seem to foreshadow the present covenant we have with Jesus.
The number usually given for the 'Golden Ratio' is 1.618 (1.618 to 1) If you break up that number into a 1, a 6, and a 18 you can use it as directions, holy coordinates if you like, to a book, a chapter, and a verse in the Holy Bible. Book 1 is Genesis. Go to Genesis chapter 6, verse 18 in the Bible and it says the following (I'll include some of the surrounding verses for context, but be sure to take notice of verse 18):
5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. 6 The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. 7 So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah and the Flood
9 This is the account of Noah and his family.
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress[c] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high.[d] 16 Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit[e] high all around.[f] Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”
22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
End Quote
This 1.618 (again, book 1, chapter 6, verse 18) is the first Biblical example in all of the Bible of a great salvation for favored humans from a very deserved destruction because of our pervasive human wickedness. In that exact verse, verse 18, God extends the saving covenant of Noah's time. It is a salvation provided by a 'boat' of God's design and human construction, provided to Noah and his family (and through them, to us!) by the favor and grace of God, the first to be found anywhere in the Bible, I believe. And so it is an early presaging of the great work that Christ accomplished on the cross, the great salvation worked for an otherwise doomed mankind, a salvation worked out for us by Jesus. They will enter that wooden ark through a hole (a door) in the side of the ark. Christians will enter salvation through the Atoning Blood of Jesus and enlivening by the Living Water, the Holy Spirit. These things poured out of Jesus' side when he was pierced by the Roman's spear. Through what poured from Jesus as he hung asleep (temporarily dead) on the cross, the Christians enter undeserved salvation in and through this King Jesus, the Son of the Holy Father who came in fleshly form to walk among us and teach, and then die for us.
I am going to propose to you that so fundamental a mathematical constant as the GOLDEN RATIO (also used in Physics for such things as the study of black holes, for instance) was probably 'measured and cut' quite carefully for the various uses that the Holy Father then made of it as He formed the Creation. But the number may be a pointer, directions to a powerful juncture of human history spoken of in the Bible, because weights and measures developed by the Father are laden with portent as well as useful for measuring. After all, God informs us that weights and measures are not accidental quantities, but very carefully assigned ones! It even says so in His Holy Word in various places in varying ways. Here are only a few of the examples:
Leviticus 19:35-37 :
35 “‘Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity. 36 Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah[d] and an honest hin.[e] I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt.
37 “‘Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the Lord.’”
Proverbs 20:10
"Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord."
Proverbs 16:11
"Honest scales and balances belong to the LORD; all the weights in the bag are of his making."
So there is no reason for us to suppose that fundamental Mathematics and Physics and Chemistry numbers or values, the truly foundational values and ratios, were not specified quite purposefully by our Maker, the Holy Father of us all. This world, this reality that hosts our lives, was built upon such things. And do we use feet and pounds and seconds, etc.? Those too were foreseen or ordered by our Maker. Was even His Holy Word to us divided into books and chapters and verses? He foresaw or skillfully engineered that as well...we may be sure of it.
So there is a value called the Golden Ratio, and it is used by builders and it is seen in nature...in the physical construction of some species of Mollusk shells for instance. It is quite useful in certain math and physics calculations, and central to understanding certain observed data in those fields. Here are randomly grabbed definitions of the Golden Ratio from the internet:
"The golden ratio is a special number, roughly 1.618, that describes a relationship between two quantities where the ratio of the whole to the larger part is the same as the ratio of the larger part to the smaller part."
"The golden ratio, roughly 1.618, is a special number that appears in nature and art, representing a pleasing balance in proportions. It's found by dividing a line into two parts so that the ratio of the whole line to the larger part is the same as the ration of the larger part to the smaller part."
If you look at the figure below you would find that the length of the longest curved line (within the largest square) divided by the length of the next longest curved line (the curved line in the next largest square) is 1.618 And the same would be true if you considered the curved line in the second largest square with the curved line in the third, etc, etc., etc.
You could view the above as emanating from a center point, constantly growing, or diminishing to a center point.

Some people even feel that though human ears vary much in form the base design of the Outer Human Ear obeys the GOLDEN RATIO (the important human ear, which hears God's word, and through hearing allows us to gain faith, a faith through which Jesus can choose us and us Him, and He can save our soul from the coming devastating destruction where a great many souls will be judged, found wicked and without a Savior, and will be consigned to Hell forever. The Bible says that salvation is through faith, and faith through hearing. Romans 1:15-17 ) The 'SAVED' symbolically enter salvation through the blood and water that gushed from the hole in the side of the Son of God as He hung on the cross, apparently dead, and the Roman Centurion stabbed Him to make sure He really was dead, as he had been ordered to do by Pontius Pilate! Salvation is possible through this faith that comes through hearing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ! Salvation is GOLDEN in my book!)
Another side bar fact is that the 30 Years War between the Catholics and the Protestants began in 1618 A.D., and it produced many victories for religious freedom to worship, just as Noah's voyage did! Noah left a very wicked situation where the worship of God had suffered much decay. The Pilgrims, for example, boarded the Mayflower and left Europe in 1620 during the 30 years War to try to start fresh and new in today's USA.
The Golden Ratio MAY pre-sage salvation, in some ways embodying it. It MAY have an aspect of prophecy attached to it. It may be a number that was meant to remind men of the great 'saving covenant' that God extends to mankind when they will trust in Him and follow Hum obediently. After all, here is the next place in a 66 book Protestant Bible where the number 1 6 and 18 show up together. It is Nehemiah (book 16) chapter 1 verse 8. Again, there are surrounding verses included for context. But it reminds God of how He said He would care for His 'Covenant People' if they were obedient to Him. But the Jews have long been removed from Israel to Babylon, whom the Persians have fairly recently defeated as Nehemiah speaks. Nehemiah has risen to a very high station and is serving a Persian king as cup bearer...a very influential position. Nehemiah's brother has just returned from a trip to Judah (in Israel), 900 miles away from Susa, and saw the conditions in long destroyed Jerusalem. Nehemiah, very concerned for this once pivotal but now almost abandoned city of their destroyed nation, asks his brother how it is going there.:
1 The words of Nehemiah son of Hakaliah:
In the month of Kislev in the twentieth year, while I was in the citadel of Susa, 2 Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem.
3 They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.”
4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. 5 Then I said:
“Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s family, have committed against you. 7 We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.
8 “Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, 9 but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.’
10 “They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. 11 Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.”
I was cupbearer to the king.
End quote.
The Golden Ratio would seem to have some mysterious qualities! Does it relate somehow to deep and holy things? God knows, but men can only consider and wonder unless He decides to enlighten us. But so many principal values in Science seem to strongly relate to the Bible. And the Bible really is inspired writings given to mankind from Heaven. God's Word is trustworthy, as is His Son our Lord and Savior and King Jesus. On the Deeds of God website home page is a search bar. If you search the word Physics there are multiple articles on this subject of correlations between the fundamental Physics values and the Bible.
